4 ways to help families on #givingtuesday

This has been an incredibly difficult year for families who depend on school for food security, learning and childcare. In the fall of 2021, schools continue to close at short notice due to illness, staff shortages and mental health.

As you think about how you want to give this holiday season, consider these four organizations which are making a big impact on supporting families through this difficult time.

We are proud to further the efforts of our long-time partners Crisis Text Line (Mental Health), the Feeding Good Project (Food security), PC’s for People (computers) and our own project, Masteryhour.org (Education), that provides free 1–1 tutoring to families who need help from us, their neighbors and friends to get through this time.

“Crisis Text Line provides free 24/7, high-quality text-based mental health support & crisis intervention by empowering a community of trained volunteers to support people in their moments of need. Our mission is at the interaction of empathy & innovation — we promote mental well-being for people wherever they are. Anyone can text SHARE to 741741 to reach a volunteer Crisis Counselor anywhere in the US. We saw a large volume increase during the pandemic and into 2021.On average we de-escalate crisis over 3,500 times a day. In 2020…
